Birch Hill – The same memories, different grounds.
Being a member of the MAD (Media & Advertising Division) Team at Riccarton High School, myself and Will Eason were tasked with creating a video to introduce the newly purchased Birch Hill Campsite to the school’s PTA and board.
This campsite was to replace our schools old campsite Kokiri, in the West Coast of New Zealand. Factors such as the long train ride and increased mining operations in the area meant the school had to look at a better, closer option to send students to for their outdoor education program.
Kokiri Campsite had been in the schools possession for many years, with many of those who are in the board or of older generations having memories of traveling to Kokiri when they were a student. With the video we were tasked to create, we wanted to give one final farewell to our old, but wonderful campsite and to invoke memories in those who would see the video, closing with a showcase of the new campsite to show what the future holds for the next generations of Riccarton students.
